Puri: The ‘Know Your Police’ programme was held on the Town (model) Police Station premises here Wednesday. The programme was attended by high school students.
The students of the Blessed Sacrament High School attended the programme first, and were followed by the students of Biswamabar Bidyapitha.
Police station In-charge Umashankar Singh explained about the functions of the police to students. He spoke about the Mahila Sishu Desk, jail, crime investigation, law and order and traffic regulation.
Later, a meeting was held at the seminar hall with Puri SP Sarthak Saranagi attending the event as the chief guest. He briefed students on the roles of the police. The SP also screened a video about the police for the students.
Stating that police are friends of the public, Sarangi said they are two sides of the same coin. If they cooperate, the law and order situation will be alright. The SP also answered the questions of students.
DSP (City) Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik and DSP (headquarters) Sasmita Mohanty also attended the programme.
