Daringbadi: In a tragic incident, 13 people including women and children were killed while over 25 others injured after the mini-truck they were travelling in overturned and plunged into a gorge near Brahmanigaon under this police limits in Kandhamal district, Tuesday morning.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Death toll is likely to climb up as many among the injured are in critical condition.
The incident occurred when the mini-truck, carrying over 40-50 passengers was en route to Brahmanigaon from Kalingi. The vehicle skidded off Poiguda Ghat after the driver lost control over the wheels.
While four persons were killed on the spot, many others succumbed to their injuries while they were being rushed to the hospital. All the injured have been taken to Brahmanigaon hospital and MKCG hospital in Berhampur. They are undergoing treatment there with quite a few of them in critical condition.
On being informed, cops along with a rescue team reached the spot and recovered the bodies. Currently they are trying to ascertain the cause of the accident.
