New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Friday dubbed the Interim Budget as a beginning towards the welfare of the farming community and opined that the Centre should also have focused on the MSME sector.
BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab said that the Union government should have paid more attention on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) as the sector has potential generate more jobs.
“If more attention would have been given towards MSME sector then it could have resulted in employment generation in a greater way,” said Mahtab.
The BJD parliamentarian also said the government should have laid the provision of financial assistance to landless farmers under the PM Kishan scheme.
“Impoverishment of rural and farming community has been recognised by the Union government in this Interim Budget that is why they started providing some fund through PM Kisan, which I would say a small beginning. Telangana, Odisha and West Bengal governments have started implementing this scheme, while the PM Kisan is only confined to farmers owning farmlands,” Mahtab said.
“I would be happy the Union government provided the financial support to landless farmers and farm laborers like the KALIA scheme,” said Mahtab, adding that the Budget would have an impact on elections and the BJP would try to take benefits from the Budget in upcoming elections.
