Khuntuni: Forest department officials Tuesday recovered the carcass of a deer from an abandoned quarry pit near Kusapangi here. According to sources, some locals spotted the carcass Tuesday afternoon before they informed the Forest department officials. The carcass was buried on the forest range office premises after conduct of a post-mortem. It is suspected that the deer, aged around 5 years, died when it fell into the quarry pit as some dogs chased it. Eight deer have died in the past six months, forest officials said.
