BHUBANESWAR: Tribal Art Conclave 2019, which is being organised by central Lalit Kala Akademi, is slated to enchant city folks till February 19 at Panthanivas here.
The conclave was inaugurated Thursday by chief guest Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra. Around 26 artistes from five states Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh are participating in the conclave.
Nutanbala from Madhubani, Bihar, said, “I am painting a Madhubani work where I am using acrylic colours to depict Krishna’s Ras Leela.” Alka Das from Patna was also engaged in Madhubani painting.
A painting from Sindori district of Madhya Pradesh showcased the value of water and its vitality for our survival. Saving every drop of water is essential for our survival. Another artist had created an artwork depicting the war between Bagula Demon and Lord Krishna. Multiple paintings based on folk and tribal art were presented at the conclave. Each artist needed to prepare at least two paintings.
Chairman, central Lalit Kala Akademi, Uttam Pacharne stressed on making the camp a success by inviting artists who are masters at their craft. Coordinator of the camp Rudramani Patra said, “Around eleven artistes were working on Gondh, Pattachitra and on wood. All the paintings would be exhibited at Mumbai Lalit Kala Akademi after the ongoing conclave. A similar conclave would also be organised at Keonjhar soon.”
Another member Nabin Kumar said, “Tribal art has always been the cherry on the top on every event because of its purity. It provides solace to visitors and art connoisseurs alike.”
All the art styles presented at the conclave have been passed from one generation to other. So learning these forms were more of a ritual during their upbringing. These art works will be showcased in various parts of the country where people can enjoy the craft to the fullest.
Deputy Secretary of New Delhi Lalit kala Akademi Dillip Tripathy and Regional Secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi Ramkrishna Vedela were also present during the event.
