You will be taken by surprise that there is a strange marriage tradition followed among tribals living in the village of Mountbaw in the foothills of Mount Abu. Even today, girls in our society are not allowed to choose a girl of their choice.
Marriage is also seen as a big crime. But, the tribals here seem to be far ahead of the educated society.
As per the traditional, a Pipal Poonam mela is organised I the lake situated in Mount Abu every year where the tribal girls have to right to choose a man of their choice.
Whereas Pipal Poonam is organised every year by the tribal society on the exact lake situated in Mount abu, here is a unique tradition of self-help in the fair, where girls have full freedom to choose the boy of her choice.
But its style is equally special. During this time, the relatives and other family members are also present and give their consent.
The most surprising thing is that before choosing a groom, every young woman first gets permission from her father for it and puts garland to her father. After this, the girl chooses a young man of her choice and makes him her life partner.
For this marriage, the father first chooses some boys of his choice and places them in one place after which the girl has to choose anyone from her father’s choice.
But even if the girls do not like anybody, then she has the right to choose any other guy and elope with him, which is not allowed in our society. Later, they are married in the village committee.
This clearly shows the high thinking of the tribals.
