dipchand bihari, post news network, Bhubaneswar, May 7: The moment fraught with tension and expectation for the Class 10 students came and went when the Board of Secondary Examination of Orissa declared the results of the High School Certificate (HSC) examination Wednesday. While it was a moment of triumph for many students, who scored well in the exam, it was a disappointing moment for others.

The most interesting and inspiring results were achieved by the students of the two schools for the disabled in the city, the Bhima Bhoi School for the Blind and the Bipin Bihari Choudhury School for the Deaf, all of whom passed the board examination, bringing smile on the faces of their teachers and parents.

“In all, 11 students appeared for the examinations and all of them have cleared it. These special students proved themselves by scoring good results here. We are proud of them. This 100 per cent success achieved by them will be an example for the next batch of Class 10,” said Gouranga Chandra Patra, headmaster, Bhima Bhoi School for the Blind.

“This year, Deepak Kumar Bhoi became our school topper. He scored 454 marks, thereby securing B1 grade. While Pradeep Kumar Sahoo got 384 marks, securing B2 grade and the second place in the list of the toppers of the school, Kedar Khunti secured B2 grade with 366 marks to become the third topper. On behalf of our school management, we congratulated them on their success and wished them better in the future,” Patra said.

The topper of the school was happy with his result. He thanked his teachers for their support. “I am grateful to my teachers, especially to my headmaster, who helped me in my studies. I followed their instructions and I dedicated myself to studies. For the plus two and beyond, I want to study in a good institution. I have a special interest in Oriya literature,” said Deepak Kumar Bhoi.

Similarly, all the 10 students, who appeared in the HSC examination from the Bipin Bihari Choudhury School for the Deaf also cleared the exams.

“Lipina Prusty, who secured the C grade with 305 marks holds the 1st rank in our school. Six other students have secured the D grade while the remaining students passed the examinations with E grade. I wish them all the best for their achievements,” said Puspanjali Mohapatra, the headmistress of the school.

Around 3801 schools from Bhubaneswar participated in the exams and only 577 of those schools could manage to register 100 per cent success record. However, 14 schools from the city failed to open any success account. No student from any of these 14 schools could pass the board examination.
