Sonepur: Two persons including a State Executive Member of the BJP were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck near Sialijuri dhaba in this district late Thursday night. Three other occupants travelling in the same vehicle were critically injured.
The deceased have been identified as Rashtrapati Behera, a BJP member and former chairman of the party in Bangamunda block of Bolangir district and his associate Dharamraj Yadav. .
Sources said, the vehicle was heading from Kantabanji in Bolangir district to Bhubaneswar. At about 1.00am, the car had a head-on collision with a truck, killing both on the spot.
On being informed police reached the site, rescued the injured and sent the bodies to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem. The injured persons are undergoing treatment at the DHH. Both vehicles have been seized and investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the accident.
