Kolabira: Police seized 10 tonnes of stolen coal from Jaynaryan Sahoo at Maldihi and Jitu Dhaba at Patrapali under Kolabira police station in Jharsugada district. Police said, no one is arrested in this case.
Locals alleged that the coal was illegally supplied to various areas under Kolabira police station, especially to local dhabas of this area.
According to the locals, coal has a high demand for brick-kiln owners of this area. The dhaba owners purchase coal from the coal loaded trucks and sell those horded coals at high rates to the brick kiln owners. They gain a huge amount of profit from this illegal business.
The revenue earned from coal trading by the state government has been decreasing due to coal smuggling in this area. However a huge amount of bricks factory are polluting the atmosphere here.
Locals alleged that though they have complained to stop these illegal brick factories and smuggling of coal, both revenue department and police are not taking strong action against them.
