Balasore: Acting on reliable information, Forest Department officials arrested a poacher on charges of poaching migratory birds near Khumkut dam inside Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district Saturday. The accused has been identified as Pahali Muduli.
According to a source, Muduli was trying to poach the birds near the dam when the officials caught him on the job.
The officials have also seized dead migratory birds and weapons from his possession. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
Since the dam is situated in the middle of the forest, migratory birds often throng the place in search of food making it a safe haven for poachers.
Frequent cases of poaching of migratory birds have been reported from here earlier as well.
