Bhubaneswar, July 12: Several days after the Airfield police station officials failed to make any headway into the death case of social worker Nalini Prava Das, who was found dead at her residence in New Forest Park Colony here, twin city Police Commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma has asked the quick action team (QAT) to probe the matter.
“I have directed the QAT to probe the case. Unfortunately so far we have not been able to solve certain mysteries of the case,” Sharma said.
The Commissioner also did not rule out that the social activist might have been killed.
“The suspicion still remains that Nalini might have been killed due to property dispute. However, right now it is difficult to say anything,” Sharma said.
The Airfield police have so far managed to recover call details, text messages and a couple of cell phones of the deceased.
Earlier, an auto-driver, Muna, was detained by the police but was released later. Police have conducted lie-detector and psychometric tests on a few persons but no arrests have been made so far.
According to initial investigations, Nalini’s ornaments including a necklace and two rings were missing. Police suspected that her mobile phone, which was also missing, might have been taken away by the assailants.
Property dispute is one angle which the investigators were looking into. Nalini had owned a landed property which she had willed in favour of a social organisation. This might have led to bad blood among her family members, sources believed.
