Bhubaneswar: The state leadership of the BJP, Wednesday, accused the state government of deliberately delaying centrally-approved projects just to avoid giving any credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
State vice president of the BJP Samir Mohanty said in a press conference, “There are projects with investments worth `1 lakh crore which have already been approved by the Union government but are being delayed at the state level just to ensure PM Modi does not get credit for such projects.”
Mohanty said that most of the projects were approved at the central level before elections and include several prime sectors like railways, road transports, petro chemicals, textiles and others. He added that there had been deliberate attempts to delay all such major projects despite such issues being raised several times in different platforms.
“In Bhadrak, there is a proposal to make a plastic park for which land has been allotted. There is a proposal for Textile Park too. If the government can help us by giving land, it can help the state grow. I hope the projects which have been delayed by the state would get an impetus soon,” he said.
He also took a dig at the state government for the delayed progress on the proposal to establish a seafood park at Deras. “Everybody knows the pace at which it has been going. While the Centre is extending its helping hand for a blue revolution, the state is dilly-dallying on the projects. All such projects need a push,” he said.
The BJP leader also said that while the state had been boasting about their investments of `2 lakh crore, many of them have already been approved by the Union government like the `10,000 crore assistance to the NTPC plant, inauguration of the Talcher fertilizer plant and others. Mohanty lamented that the centrally approved projects could give employment to many youths from the state if they were implemented.
He said, “Due to government inaction, many investments have become Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). Many youths, who could have got employment opportunities from such projects, are now deprived of their rights due to state inaction.”
