Bhubaneswar, July 19: More than 4,000 registered candidates failed to turn up for the Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) that was held across the state Sunday for admission to the Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) course, with only 6,690 of the 10,720 candidates taking the test.
“As many as 4,030 candidates were absent,” said OJEE chairman Tusharkant Nath.
The test was held at various examination centres set up at nine cities of the state.
“The results will be declared by July 27. The rank holders will be counseled August 7 and the admission will be over by August 14. The classes will begin simultaneously,” said Nath.
Rank holders will be counseled for admission into 87 private and six government engineering colleges across the state.
“It is fortunate that OJEE officials conducted a special examination for B Tech. I was worried when I missed the JEE Main examination. This exam gave me a second chance,” said Nani Mohanty, an engineering aspirant at BJB Autonomous College.
The examination, which was of a two-hour duration, began at 10 am, with the candidates answering question on chemistry, physics and mathematics.
