Talcher: Acting on a tip off Colliery police of Angul district Saturday busted a notorious dacoit gang and arrested seven of its members. They have been produced in the court.
The accused men have been identified as Biki Nayak (20) and Cheren Banera (19) from Bhaguabol Munda sahi, Balram Rao (30) of Nayabazar under Sector-2 of Rourkela, Chandan Nayak (25) of Angarua area, Papu Nayak (25), Manoranjan Das alias Pintu (21) and Sujeet Singh alias Subrat (19) of Deulabeda.
The cops have seized several arms, stolen goods such as a laptop, six mobile phones, two motorcycles along with several other items from them.
Eight cases of dacoity are pending against them at various police stations of Angul district, said Colliery police IIC Sabyasachi Rout.
The members of this gang have been accused of being involved in several crimes in and around Talcher town including robbery from shops and loot from online shopping portal delivery boys. They often targeted houses and grocery shops in Talcher as well, police said.
