Bank manager critically injured while trying to prevent robbery

Belpahar: The manager of Axis Bank at Gumadera area under this town in Jharsuguda district was critically injured after he was shot at by five unidentified miscreants inside the office premises Wednesday afternoon.

The manager was shot as he tried to prevent the five persons who looted Rs 14 lakh from escaping.

The five armed miscreants barged into the bank Wednesday afternoon and held the employees’ hostage at gunpoint while looting cash. Then after shooting the manager they fled in a white Scorpio with no number plates.

Officials of the Town Police Station rushed to the spot launched a probe into the incident.
