Digapahandi: Fire brigade personnel fished out Friday morning a woman’s body from the Kanteijodi River under Digapahandi police limit in Ganjam district. The deceased has been identified as Jadi Pradhan, wife of Govinda Pradhan of Guhalpur village under Kaithoda panchayat.
Jadi was returning home from the family’s farmland Friday morning. According to information available she was crossing Pidisal rivulet near her village. However, she slipped and fell into the water and was swept away by the strong current.
When Jadi did not return as per her schedule, the family members launched a frantic search for her. They also informed the police and fire brigade personnel.
The search continued for over two hours before fire brigade personnel could locate her body. She was rushed to the Digapahandi Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) but the doctor declared her brought dead. “The body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation is on,” said a police official.
