Puri: If you want an adrenaline rush in your body through adventure sports on the sea, then Chandrabhaga beach, near Konark in Puri district, is the perfect destination.
As the festive season is approaching the footfalls in Puri as well as Chandrabhaga will increase. To make the trip memorable for the tourists, the district administration is contemplating plans, introducing water sports is one of them.
According to sources, ‘Akela Adventure Private Limited’, a Konark-based company, is all set to launch these adventure sports. The organisation is planning to operate all-terrain vehicles on the beach, speed boats, jet skis and banana boats. The Nolia Sahi area, 500 metres from Chandrabhaga, has been earmarked for tourists who want to enjoy adventure sports.
A meeting was convened at the District Collector’s office Saturday to discuss various aspects of these adventure sports, including safety. In the meeting, which was chaired by Collector Balwant Singh, it was decided that the company would give an undertaking regarding the safety of tourists before implementing its plans. It was also decided that the district administration would verify the details before allowing the company to operate.
Those present in the meeting were Assistant Director, Tourism Department, Bijay Kumar Jena, Konark tourist officer Sarojkant Pradhan and officials of ‘Akela Adventure Private Limited’.
