Dhenkanal: Three persons drowned in separate incidents in Dhenkanal district while taking bath Thursday.
In the first incident, two youths of Itapa village under Kantabani police limits were drowned.
The deceased have been identified as Satyabrata Rout and sister, Jyotirmayee Rout.
According to the locals, the two were bathing in a village pond, during which they slipped into deep water and drowned.
In another incident, a minor boy of ward no-12 of Bhuban NAC drowned while taking bath in a pond.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhas Sathua Mohapatra (16). He was a student of Plus II of Baji Rout Smruti Junior College.
According to sources, the local villagers rescued the minor and immediately rushed him to Bhuban hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
On being informed, the police officials initiated an investigation into the matter. The police officials also registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem.
