Nayagarh: State food commissioner has suspended the district supply officer and assistant district supply officer along with four other staff engaged at Nayagarh district supply office.
The reason behind the departmental action, however, is yet to be made public.
The suspended officers have been identified as supply officer Bikram Kumar Majhi and his deputy Srinibas Sahu.
A source suggested that the duo were suspended for allegedly providing low-quality PDS ration to the beneficiaries.
According to the source, a beneficiary had lodged a complaint with commissioner over this issue November 9. Acting on the complaint, the food commissioner had sent a high-level investigating team who corroborated the irregularities following which action was taken.
The incident has spread panic among government officials in the district- especially in the supply department.
