Koraput: A boy died after a portion of an abandoned building caved in at Bariniput village under Sadar police limits in Koraput district Saturday.
The deceased is yet to be identified.
According to locals, the mishap took place Friday evening. The deceased and three other members of his family were present near the building when it collapsed. Meanwhile, the boy was trapped under debris after the abandoned building crumbled while the three others were safely rescued. A massive operation was launched by the personnel of Odisha Fire Services, ODRAF and Koraput police to rescue the boy. After a few hours of shifting through the debri, he was rescued late Friday night.
The boy was found in a critical condition and was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) but was declared dead Saturday while undergoing treatment.
The three other rescued persons are currently undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
