Sonepur: An attempt to take selfies on a giant wheel at an annual fair of ‘Dhanu Yatra’ festival in S Rampur under Dunguripali block of Subarnapur district proved fatal for a youth, Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Jaga Barik of Telipali village. His friend Madhab Chhatria who was with him sustained critical injuries in the incident and undergoing treatment at Dunguripalli community health centre (CHC).
Sources said Jaga and his friend Madhad had gone for a giant wheel ride at the annual fair, Tuesday night. However, the joyride turned tragic after they lost their balance and fell down on the ground while taking selfies atop the giant wheel.
They were immediately rushed to Dunguripalli Community Health Centre (CHC) from where Jaga was referred to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla after his condition further deteriorated.
While Jaga succumbed to his injuries at VIMSAR Wednesday, Madhab was still undergoing treatment at Dunguripalli CHC.
