Bargarh: Tension prevailed at Ekamra Chhak under Bargarh police limits in this district Sunday morning after locals staged a road blockade protesting the death of a worker who was electrocuted in the locality while cutting down the branches of a tree.
The deceased man has been identified as Ishwar Chattar (29), a resident of the same locality.
According to villagers, Ishwar climbed atop a tree to cut down the branches in an agricultural field when the mishap occurred. Accidentally, Ishwar came in contact with an 11KV live electric wire. The shock flung him to the ground leading to his death on the spot.
Resentment brew among locals as the body was left lying on the spot until the arrival of the police. Angry locals blocked the road by keeping Ishwar’s body on Bargarh-Bolangir road demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased.
