Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: KISS and St. Xavier’s Khandagiri entered the quarterfinals of the Inter-School MCL Cup football tournament after earning contrasting victories in their respective matches at the Unit-VI Ground here Friday.
In the first pre-quarterfinal, KISS rode on a hat-trick by Dilip Kumar Murmu to spank SAI International School 4-0. Man of the match Dilip struck in the eighth, 29th and 31st minutes respectively. Sana Kumar Marandi found the back of the net in the 39th minute to finish the rout.
The second match was a keenly contested affair in which St. Xavier’s pipped IRC Village Government HS by a solitary goal. Man of the match, Subham Sahoo scored the all- important goal of the match in the 19th minute.
Football tourney
Bhubaneswar Athletic Association will organise the 12th Gati Krushna Memorial Football League which will start at the Unit-I Boys’ HS ground here Saturday. Altogether 20 teams divided into four groups will take part in this tournament.
Hockey tourney
Orissa Police HS (OPHS) will meet Holipur HS in the final of the Cuttack School Hockey League at the Satyabrata Stadium in Cuttack, Saturday. Both the teams had topped from A and B groups with four points each to enter the summit clash.
Sepak Takraw tourney
Panposh Sports Organisation and Rourkela Sepak Takraw Association will jointly organise the VIth Federation Cup Sepak Takraw Championship at Rourkela, October 2-4. Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association stated through a press release that preparations are in full swing for the prestigious tournament. “We are trying our best to make the event a grand success. A number of Bollywood stars will be present to motivate the players and audience,” the press release added.
