Bhubaneswar, Sept 15: In a move to monitor the day-to-day activities of premier healthcare units, the state government Tuesday decided to bring the three medical college hospitals of the state, Sishu Bhawan and Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack under CCTV surveillance.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of health and family welfare department held under the chairmanship of secretary Arti Ahuja here. It was also decided to strengthen the casualty wards and ICUs along with trauma care units in the institutions.
Officials of healthcare units were asked to popularise helpdesks already set up in the institutions. Besides, assistant professors and senior residents were asked to perform emergency duty in the medical college hospitals.
Ahuja directed the health
officials to keep vigil on cases of dengue and swine flu. Already many state-run premier healthcare units have been functioning special wards for these patients.
The officials were also instructed to monitor the process of patients availing the benefits of Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY), Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and Orissa State Treatment Fund (OSTF).
It was revealed that 3,181
persons derived benefits under OSTF, 2,414 under RSBY and 2,512 under BKKY till April this year at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Similarly, at VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, 917 patients derived benefits under the OSTF, 1,006 under the RSBY and 2,155 under the BKKY.
