Daringbadi: Kandhamal district Thursday reported 74 new cases and with this, the district’s total infection cases have gone up to 772. Among the fresh cases, there are 11 COVID warriors and seven CRPF jawans. And of the 11 COVID warriors, Daringbadi block accounted for ten such warriors
Daringbadi block reported as many as 14 coronavirus positive cases Thursday. The block’s ten warriors include the panchayat executive officer, clerks and some junior engineers.
Earlier block development officer (BDO), Daringbadi and assistant executive engineer had been tested positive for coronavirus and are currently undergoing treatment. Following detection of cases, the block office has been shut.
A day before, Kandhamal district reported 20 cases Wednesday out of which 12 were from Daringbadi block that has remained at the forefront of recording COVID cases in Kandhamal district.
While maximum 24 cases were reported from Baliguda block, the following blocks minus Daringbadi, K Nuagaon and Kotagad eight each, G Udaygiri and Tumudibandh seven each, Phulbani five and Raikia one.
Of the district’s total 772 cases, 428 patients have recovered from the disease while 341 are still undergoing treatment. With one death due to COVID-19 reported Thursday, the district’s toll has mounted to three.
