Madhapur: Police recovered an unidentified body of a woman with a slit throat from a rivulet at Oreda of Tusur panchayat under Kiakata police limits in Angul district Monday morning.
According to Kiakata inspector-in-charge (IIC) Anama Lakra, the yet-to-be identified deceased, aged about 20, had been murdered by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon. She is yet to be identified.
The local people first spotted the body floating in the Kerandi rivulet. On not being able recognize the body, the villagers suspected the body to have been washed away by the rivulet from a neighbouring village. They immediately informed Kiakata police station.
A police team, led by Kiakata IIC Anama Lakra and ASI Sanjay Behera, reached the spot and fished out the body. The police seized the body for post mortem and have launched an investigation from a murder angle as there is strong evidence to suggest so.
