Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Sundargarh athletes emerged champions in both the boys’ and the girls’ categories of the athletics events in the State Level Rural Sports Competition, which concluded at the Kalinga Stadium here Thursday.
In the boys’ category, Sundargarh took the top honours with 29 points. Bargarh emerged runners-up with 10 points. Koraput secured the third position with nine points.
In the girls’ segment, Sundargarh clinched the title with 27 points. Malkangiri finished runners-up with 17 points, while Nagarangpur finished third with 11 points.

Selection camp
Football Association of Orissa (FAO) will organise a trial cum selection camp for the ensuing National Junior boys’ BC Roy Trophy Football Tournament, at Cuttack, starting January first week. “Interested players should contact FAO office soon,” FAO stated through a press release Thursday.
Squad announced
Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association (OSSTA) Thursday announced both the boys’ and the girls’ squads for the National Schools’ Sepak Takraw Championships at New Delhi, January 2-5.
The squad: (Girls) Aliva Das, Mamuni Mahata, Chunmun Samal, Baisakhi Sahoo, Madhusmita Behera, Jyoti Das; (Boys’) Tulu Patra, Sarat Patra, Deepak Mallick, Siddhartha Pradhan.
