Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police Monday flagged off five more PCR vehicles which were provided by Nalco.
The public-sector aluminium giant has provided at least 45 PCR vehicles equipped with modern technology to the commissionerate police in different phases since 2009. Nalco provided five PCR vehicles in 2014, 10 in 2010 and 15 in 2009, said officials.
During a ceremony Nalco chairman and managing director Tapan Kumar Chand said providing these vehicles gave his organisation an
opportunity to serve the
people.
Twin-city Police Commissioner Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma told journalists that the five new PCR vehicles will replace the defunct ones. “With the latest inclusion, the number of active PCR vehicles in the capital city grew
to 33.
The new vehicles will also patrol on the outskirts of the city to curb crime,” he added, thanking Nalco.Sources said one of the new PCR vehicles will be sent to Cuttack, which right now has 20 such vans.
