Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Wednesday gave compulsory retirement to six senior officers for having doubtful integrity, inefficiency and involvement in corrupt practices.
The axed officers include four engineers Ajit Kumar Debata (Deputy Executive Engineer, Rural Works Division, Keonjhar), Jitendra Kumar Dalai (Assistant Engineer, Quality Control Department of R&B division, Cuttack), Bijay Parida (Assistant Engineer, Rural Works Section-1, Karanjia, Mayurbhanj district), Ganeswar Sethi (Assistant Engineer, R&B Division-II, Bhubaneswar) and two are currently posted in Excise Department of Odisha Jayadeep Patnaik (Deputy Superintendent of Excise) and Rihaz Ahmed Beg (Excise Inspector, Sundargarh).
As per a release issued by the state government, Ajit Debata, who is serving as the Deputy Executive Engineer in Rural Works Division in Keonjhar, is accused of accumulating assets worth over Rs 1 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income. Also, two vigilance cases have been registered against him.
Two Assistant Engineers Jitendra Dalai and Bijay Parida have described as one of the most corrupted officers in the state in an official notification issued by the state government. As per state government, many graft charges had been levelled against the two tainted officials which forced the state government to give compulsory retirement to both.
While two vigilance cases were lodged against Jitendra Dalai, the anti-corruption wing has filed three cases against Bijay Parida on charges of misusing government funds during repairing work.
Similarly, six departmental proceedings were made against Assistant Engineer Ganeswar Sethi on basis of allegations of misbehaviour and dereliction in duty.
The government of Odisha has given compulsory retirement to Deputy Superintendent of Excise Jayadeep Patnaik who was also serving as the Branch Manager of Odisha State Beverages Corporation Limited, Sambalpur on charges of professional misconduct, mismanagement of public properties and consumption of liquor during office hours.
Similarly, five department proceedings have been made against Excise Inspector Ahmed Beg, currently posted in Sundargarh district, for inefficiency, lack of dedication and irresponsible behaviour.
