Bhubaneswar: The state government Friday launched its Orissa Knowledge Hub (OKH) lecture series here at Secretariat to create a listening space for development planners and policy makers.
Nachiket Mor, a member of the central board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), delivered a keynote address over national and international scenario on financial inclusion and health service delivery to the ministers and senior officials including district collectors.
Lauding the initiative, Mor said, “It was a wonderful initiation taken by the state government. I am not surprised that Orissa is a leader in thinking of innovations and its bureaucracy has really looked up for such things.”
He said sharing of new ideas helps initiation of innovative practices and without ideas nothing will change. “So you have to start with ideas. Learn from failure and go forward,” he said.
Stating there are many issues in the two fields, he said the government has moved some ideas in finance while health is another complex area.
Chief Secretary AP Padhi said the objective of the lecture series is to bring expert input into government system. New inputs from outside will be customised as per Orissa context to enhance performance level and service delivery in the coming years.
Development commissioner R Balakrishnan said lessons about new ideas and best practices can be gathered from various quarters. OKH will provide a platform to facilitate knowledge sharing among multi stakeholders and capture the best practices for strengthening the good governance in the state, he stated.
Among others, finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat, law minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, food supplies and consumer welfare minister Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, energy minister Pranab Prakash Das and additional chief secretary to CM, UN Behera were present at the meeting.
