Cuttack: A man, who is a teacher by profession, was Monday arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a minor student at a hotel in Madhupatna area of Cuttack.
According to reports, Bijay Nayak, a mathematics teacher of a city based school, had taken the victim to a hotel promising to help her pass the examinations. There in the hotel room, he attempted to rape her.
However, the girl somehow managed to free herself and came out of the hotel. Reaching home, she narrated everything what had happened to her in the hotel room to her family members.
The family members then lodged a report against the teacher at Madhupatna police station. On the basis of the report, the police registered a case and arrested the teacher.
A detailed investigation is underway, it was learnt.
