Dhenkanal: In a shameful incident, an elderly attendant of a patient who was undergoing treatment at Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH) was gang-raped near the DHH Wednesday night.
According to a source, the attendant, a 65-year-old woman, was at the DHH Wednesday night. It was when she came out of the ward for some works, some miscreants forcibly took her to a secluded place near a pond and forced themselves upon her.
After committing the heinous act, they threatened her with dire consequences if she would reveal her ordeal before anyone and left the spot.
However, the victim informed the DHH authorities about what had happened with her. Following this, the DHH authorities lodged a report with the town police station. Registering a case, the police had the victim’s medical test conducted at the DHH. Later, the victim also led the police to the crime spot.
Meanwhile, the police have detained two persons in this connection. Meanwhile, some attendants and local people said that the hospital’s security arrangement is in dire need of improvement.
