Bhubaneswar, April 12: Unsatisfied with its cable service, the state government has asked Ortel Communication Ltd to immediately disconnect from the Chief Minister’s Office and other offices of ministers at secretariat.
The parliamentary affairs department of the state government has asked Ortel Communications to refund the cost of set top box and monthly charges.
“Kindly withdraw the cable services from the office of Chief Minister and refund the amount to this department,” said Parliamentary Affairs department deputy secretary Manmohan Barik in a letter to the assistant manager of Ortel Communication recently.
“After several complaints lodged through your telephone number, the cable service provided by your agency to the office of Chief Minister and other ministers has not been satisfactory,” the letter read, adding, “They have expressed their discontentment over the service provided by your organisation and requested you to disconnect the cable service at the earliest.”
The state government has asked the cable firm to refund Rs 20, 559 it had paid for its service.
The parliament affairs department also directed Ortel to pay Rs 10, 569 towards subscription charges for seven connections. It has also asked Ortel to repay set top box charges of Rs 9990.
The officials of the cable service provider, however, could not be contacted for their reaction.
