Paralakhemundi: A minor boy allegedly raped a minor girl at a village under Kashinagar police limits in Gajapati district Saturday evening.
After getting their medical tests done, police admitted the victim to a government hospital. The doctors attending her there said her condition is stable and she remains under medical care.
According to the victim’s aunt, the victim had gone to witness Ganesh Puja to a neighbouring village Saturday evening. The accused approached her and cajoled her to go with him while she was playing near the puja pandal. He took her to a secluded building and committed the crime.
Upon reaching home, she narrated the entire episode before her parents. Subsequently, they lodged an FIR with local police.
Registering a case (Case No- 97/21), the police launched a probe into the incident and have detained the accused. They said since both the accused and the victim are minors, they are taking the case seriously. The accused will be produced before a juvenile justice board, they added.
