Bhubaneswar, June 5: Orissa sprinting star Srabani Nanda bagged a silver medal in the 200 metres of Flander’s Cup European Club Meet by clocking 23.70 seconds in Belgium, Saturday.
However the Belgium sprinter bagged gold with a timing of 23.34 seconds. The bronze medal was claimed by IVB, a European local club athlete with a timing of 23.71 seconds. Srabani will take part in the women’s 100 metres here June 11.
Pratyasa shines
Young swimming sensation of the state Pratyasa Ray of Bhubaneswar stole the show in the junior girls’ events of Group II of the State Swimming Championships at the Barabati Stadium’s OCA Club Swimming Pool in Cuttack, Sunday. She finished at the top in the 50m and 100m back stroke, 50m and 100m butterfly, and 100m free style on the opening day of the competition.
Meanwhile, Sonia Patel of Bhubaneswar of the same category also performed well securing the first place in the 50m and 200m free style events while she secured the second spots in the 50m breast stroke and 100m free style. Khurda girl Juee Shantanu Bhalerao finished first in the 50m and 100m breast stroke events while she slso secured second and third places in the 200m and 50m free style respectively.

OTA dissolved
Orissa Taekwondo Association (OTA) has been dissolved Sunday following a no confidence motion by the technical committee in the AGM. “The president of the OTA’s executive committee president Krushna Chandra Das, who was elected in 2014 has been absconding because of a criminal offense. Secretary of OTA Santosh Mohanty has also been suspended by Taekwondo Federation of India. So, the executive body has been dissolved” OTA stated in a press release Sunday.
