Bhubaneswar, July 1: Mahila police Friday seized the car in which actor Tatwa Prakash Sathpathy alias Papu Pom Pom and his associate Pradipta Swain had allegedly molested a minor girl.
Zone I ACP Aseem Kumar Panda said a Chevrolet Beat car, bearing registration number OR-02-BK-5005 and belonging to Papu, was seized. Meanwhile, Papu was shifted to ward No. 18 of Jharpada Jail, where at least 20 criminals are lodged, from ward No. 11 of the jail.
No special treatment is being offered to Papu in the jail, asserted Jharpada jail officials. “As soon as Papu reached the jail, a blanket and utensils were given to him like to any other prisoner,” said a jail official.
“Papu refused to have dinner June 30 night, but he had breakfast consisting of chapatti, curry and tea Friday morning. He took some spiritual books from the jail library and read them in the morning. The atmosphere in the jail suddenly became entertaining as the inmates were eager to have a word with their favourite comedian,” said another jail official. Papu and Pradipta were arrested Thursday for their involvement in an alleged casting couch case that came to light when a minor girl told a TV channel that the duo had molested her. The girl had alleged that the duo had lured her June 24 on the pretext of giving her a role in an Oriya film. An NGO had lodged a complaint with Mahila police in this regard June 25.
