Bhadrak: ChildLine officials Monday rescued a 16-year-old Nepali boy from an unidentified location of Bhadrak district after he was found to be tortured by some locals.
The victim was identified as Dinesh Roy, a resident of Deusa village in the state of Sagarmatha in Nepal. The boy was not fluent in Hindi but was able to communicate that he was being tortured.
According to reports, one of his relatives dropped him off at a hotel to work for a living. Failing to bear the torture meted out by the hotel owner, Dinesh fled the place at night and was found wandering in Ichhapur area of the district.
On a tip-off, ChilLine officials rescued him from a farmland and produced him before officials of the Child Welfare Committee.
The boy would be kept at a short-stay home after his health check-up, CWC chairman Kamalakanta Swain said.
The matter would be probed as to how he left Nepal, where he worked in Bhadrak and why he had to flee the hotel in the dead of the night, Swain added. PNN
