Rourkela: Police claimed to have busted the murder mystery of a garments businessman Manish Kumar Gupta (35) and arrested his friend Saturday. The accused was identified as Govind Kumar Gupta of Rourkela Basanti Colony.
A case was registered and Govind produced in court, sources said. Further investigation into whether Manish was murdered or he committed suicide is under investigation, police said.
According to police, Manish and Govind together carried out garments business. The duo booked a room (105) at Sri Ganesh Ambika Rest House Wednesday evening. Later, a house keeper asked the duo to vacate the house Thursday morning. However, Manish was spotted hanging from a fan inside the hotel room.
On being alerted, police seized the body and detained Govind for interrogation. However, Govind claimed to have visited his sister on the occasion of Rakshya Bandhan leaving Manish alone in the hotel room.
Manish allegedly had suffered heavy loss in business. He was under severe mental pressure and had reportedly attempted suicide by consuming poison, Govind revealed to police.
Based on circumstantial evidence and Govind’s revelations, police launched an investigation. PNN
