Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: In a major security breach at Apollo Hospital here, a man claiming to be a doctor met several patients Wednesday morning.
Sahid Nagar police identified the man as Pradipta Mohapatra of Soro in Balasore district.
Sahid Nagar police station inspector-in-charge Kishore Mund said that Pradipta reportedly entered the hospital between 10:45am and 11am, and then met a couple of patients admitted there.
“Pradipta first entered a cabin and he asked the patients to give their prescriptions. He then told the patients to get their treatment done from him and he will give at least 25 per cent discount to each. Pradipta then went to another cabin and told the same thing to the patients over there,” Mund said.
However, an attendant noticed Pradipta and realised that he was not a doctor of the hospital. The attendant then informed the hospital’s security officials, who detained him. The hospital authorities then informed the police after which Pradipta was brought to the police station.
“Pradipta, however, told us that he was an entrepreneur and he is running a firm named Tarini Crusher in Soro. He first told us that his father’s name is Gobinda Mohapatra, but on examining a Muthoot Finance document, which we recovered from him, we found out that his father’s name is Gopal Mohapatra. According to the document, Pradipta’s address is near an ayurvedic college in Mayurbhanj. We are examining the documents, and are investigating the matter,” Mund added.
Police sources said Pradipta came from Balasore to Bhubaneswar in a car, and the cops have detained the vehicle’s driver.
