Bhubaneswar, Sept 16: Sahid Nagar police said several cases were registered by Bhubaneswar Government Railway Police against Pradipta Mohapatra of Soro, who was arrested September 14 for impersonating himself as Apollo Hospital doctor.
Sahid Nagar police station inspector-in-charge Kishore Mund told this newspaper that Bhubaneswar GRP had registered at least eight cases against Pradipta for impersonating ticket collector and demanding money from passengers, drugging passengers and looting them.
“Visakhapatnam GRP officials have also registered a case against Pradipta. Recently, Pradipta went to a mobile shop in Damana and purchased a mobile phone. Pradipta gave a cheque to the shopkeeper, but the shopkeeper later found out that the account was not active for four months. We are investigating various criminal antecedents of Pradipta,” he said.
A case (495/16) has been registered in this regard and Pradipta was produced in a court Thursday.
Pradipta’s portraits are on display at Visakhapatnam railway station as a wanted criminal, said the police.
Pradipta was reported to have entered Apollo hospital Wednesday in the guise of a doctor and met a couple of patients in two cabins.
