Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Nayapalli police Sunday took the minor girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by about four miscreants September 16, to the spot for investigation and to recreate the crime scene.
Nayapalli police station inspector-in-charge Suryamani Pradhan told this newspaper that they took the 17-year-old girl to the spots from where she reportedly boarded an auto-rickshaw and also to the place from where she managed to flee from the clutches of the miscreants.
“However, the girl was not able to tell us anything clearly. We are investigating the matter,” he said.
On being asked whether the
three-wheeler was a pink auto, the inspector said the minor girl has not been able to tell them anything about the vehicle.
The girl, who is a native of Chakapada in Phulbani district, was allegedly kidnapped by a few unidentified miscreants from Baramunda bus stand September 16.
Nayapalli police said the girl has separated from her husband and used to chat with a man of another area over the phone
“The girl and the man then entered into a relationship. However, the girl’s parents didn’t accept their relationship and they were trying to fix her marriage with someone else.
Fearing this, the girl decided to run away from her family and came to Bhubaneswar,” they added.
“After reaching Bhubaneswar, the girl boarded an auto-rickshaw to go to one of her relatives’ house at Ganapati Nagar in Nayapalli.
There were about three to four miscreants present in the auto-rickshaw and they then diverted the three-wheeler towards Khandagiri area of the capital city.
The miscreants then allegedly molested the girl in Khandagiri area but she managed to free herself from their clutches,” sources said.
“The girl then rushed to her relative’s house at Ganapati Nagar in Nayapalli. But, the miscreants followed her there too. The girl and her relative then approached Nayapalli police in this regard,” they added.
