Bhubaneswar: Orissa women’s team emerged champions in the All India Women’s Rugby XVs tournament after beating Delhi 2-0 in the final match played Friday at Kolkata.
Orissa dominated the match completely and did not provide an inch for the opposition to exploit. Hupi Majhi and Sanjukta Munda scored the two tries for Orissa to ensure victory for their side.
Jayadurga pip RFC
Jayadurga Football Club pipped Regional Football Club (RFC) by a solitary goal in a B division match of the Gati Krushna Memorial Football League here Friday. Jayadev Mallick scored the all important goal of the match in the 31st minute. The game was a pedestrian affair with both sides resorting to aimless midfield play. There were rare shots on either of the goals.
Nabajyoti United will meet Jadupur Athletic Association, Saturday.
New committee
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) formed a three-member committee Thursday to prevent age forging in the state-level cricket tournaments. The members of the panel are Kishore Mohanty, Sanjay Das and Suryakanta Sangnaria. The committee has been authorised to scrutinise the age certificates and documents of U-16, U-19 and U-23 boys and girls categories.
