Odisha weather April 26: Hailstorm likely in these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Wednesday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of April 27: As per the Yellow Warning (be prepared), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts, the IMD bulletin stated.

Besides that, hailstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kandhamal, Ganjam, Bolangir, Nuapada and Kalahandi districts. IMD informed that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam and Bhadrak districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south Odisha, north coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of April 27 to 8.30 AM of April 28: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Boudh, Rayagada, Nayagarh and Gajapati districts.

Hailstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over Cuttack, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at many places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts; at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

The weather agency forecasted no change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next four to five days.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 36 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 37.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Sonepur and Boudh while the lowest minimum temperature of 19.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani, the bulletin informed.
