Sambalpur: Police arrested Wednesday five persons including a woman and two minors for their alleged role in the murder of Bijay Jal, 41, a resident of Vishnu Mandirpada locality under Burla police limits in this district.
Officials alleged that the victim was murdered by the five, Monday night. The adults involved in the crime have been identified as Kajal Kumari alias Kajli, 22, Chandan Kumbhar, 20 and Mohammed Shakib Ershad, 19.
Officials of the Burla police station informed Wednesday that an argument over cash stolen from Bijay’s house led to his death. The victim suspected that some youths of the locality were involved in the theft. When he questioned them a heated argument broke out. The youths along with Kajal attacked Bijay with sharp weapons killing him on the spot. Residents of the locality then informed the Burla police station about the gruesome murder.
Cops arrived on the spot and sent the body for postmortem before registering a case (No- 234/2024) under Sections 302 and 34 of IPC at the Burla police station. Police launched a search for all the accused and arrested them Wednesday and produced them in court. The three adults were sent to judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected. The two minors have been sent to a juvenile home. Police have also seized the weapons used in the heinous crime and are interrogating the three adults accused of murder.
