Nayagarh: A day after three students of a coaching institute were made to kneel down on the national highway passing through Padapandusara under Sadar block in this district, the collector Friday ordered a probe into the incident.
The tutor gave the punishment to students of Class-IX after the latter were found quarrelling during a class. A video of the punishment went viral on social media.
Following the collector’s direction, district child protection officer (DCPO) Pritikanta Panda and district project coordinator in-charge Santoshi Sahu visited the tutorial and conducted an inquiry Friday morning.
Gobinda Chandra Panda was running the tutorial, Panda said.
The tutor has been directed to file a written report on why action should not be taken against him within 36 hours, Panda added.
Collector Arindam Dakua said action would be taken against the tutor after the probe. PNN
