Sambalpur, Jan 20: The Orissa Water Supply and Sewerage Board (OWSSB) will provide funds to the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation for
construction of dhobi ghats,
crematorium and community toilets in the city.
Project engineer of OWSSB in Sambalpur, Biranchi Narayan Das, said the Board will also provide financial support to the Water Resource Department for the river front development on the bank of river Mahanadi along Sambalpur city. Das said the work will be executed at an estimated cost of `11.83 crore.
The Board will provide funds for
construction of 25 community
toilets, three dhobi ghats and
renovation of the crematorium at Kamlibazar of the city.
In addition, funds would be provided to the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation to develop a new
crematorium at Charbati in the city having both improved wood-based and electric facilities. The water resource department would be provided financial assistance for the execution of the river front development at four places along the Ring road on the bank of river Mahanadi. Bathing ghats, changing rooms and platforms will be constructed along the ring road under the river front development work.
Das said the funds would be released after the proposal and estimate of the project is received from the municipal corporation and the water resources department.
The projects would be implemented under the non-core component of the Board, which will execute the work of an integrated sewerage project for the city. Under the project, 253 km of underground sewerage line will be laid in the city, he said.
