Indo-Asian News Service, New Delhi, Jan 21: The food and drinking water to be served to the US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle during their stay at the ITC Maurya will pass through three layers of stringent checking by a team, which would include a crack Delhi Police unit and the US Secret Service.
While the super-luxury Maurya has its own team of food-testing experts, the food to be served to the US president and his wife will be checked by a Delhi Police team and finally by a team of US Secret Service agents before it is served.
The Delhi Police food-testing team will stay put in the hotel during the three-day visit of the US president, beginning January 25 early morning.
The process of testing the food will be completed in 15 minutes before it is to be served to Obama after which it will be kept under strict watch to ensure no one comes near the food or is able to tamper with it, privileged sources told IANS.
An advance US Secret Service team has already checked into the hotel. The drinking water to be served to the US president will also pass through stringent checking.
