Bhubaneswar: Sprint queen and Olympian Dutee Chand has been selected Tuesday as the best sportsperson of the year 2016 for the highest sports honour of the state Biju Patnaik Sports Award. She will be presented a cash award of Rs 2,00,000 along with a trophy and a plaque in a special function here on National Sports Day, August 29.
Sprint coach Pancanan Gantayat will bag the Life Time Achievement Award. He will get a cash award of Rs 3,00,000, a trophy and a plaque. Kabaddi trainer Sanghita Das will be conferred the best coach award. Utkal Karate School founder Hari Prasad Patnaik will be presented the best sports administrator award. Both Sanghita and Hari will be presemted with cash awards of Rs 1,00,000 each.
Veteran journalist Rajani Satrusalya and photo journalist Ashok Panda have been chosen as the best sports journalists. They will be presented cash awards of Rs 50,000 each.
