Bhubaneswar: Renowned actor and Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra’s mother, Kanak Mohapatra, passed away Saturday at her residence at the age of 87.
Her passing has left her well-wishers deeply saddened, with condolences pouring in from various individuals and organisations, including BJP leaders.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his condolences through a post on his official handle ‘X’ and wrote, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of the mother of Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra.
I paid my last respects by visiting the mortal remains at Mohapatra’s residence in Bhubaneswar and offered my condolences to the grieving family.
I pray to Lord Jagannath to grant peace to the departed soul and provide strength to the family to bear this loss.”
Deputy CMs Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida also extended their condolences. Taking to X, Singh Deo wrote, “I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of Kanak Mohapatra, the mother of Odisha’s renowned actor and our party’s esteemed Digapahandi MLA, Sidhant Mohapatra.
I pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
Similarly, Parida said, “I am saddened to hear the news of the passing of Mrs. Kanak Mohapatra, the mother of the popular actor and our party’s Digapahandi MLA, Sidhant Mohapatra.
In this sorrowful time, I express my condolences to his family and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti.”
State BJP president Manmohan Samal expressed profound grief over her demise.
Along with state general secretary (organisation) Manas Mohanty and several senior leaders and party workers, Samal visited Mohapatra’s residence to pay their last respects and offer floral tributes to the departed soul.
