It’s not just star-struck fans blindly aping their idols’ sculpted bodies who resort to desperate measures. Steroid use is quite a rage amongst many former big male models,

Salman Khan flexes it, Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham flaunt it, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff and a generation of gym going actors of the day, seem like they can do anything for it – that gym toned six pack body beautiful!
The result is indeed hard to resist, but the means to that end is what one needs to worry about. Especially, the ‘will do’ anything for it bit of the deal that comes with a liberal use of those universal pump ups and boosters – steroids.
“The youngsters seem to be in a hurry these days. They come with weird demands like ‘Mujhe teen mahine main star jaisa body chahiye.’ They want to achieve within six months, sometimes even in six weeks what stars have worked for five to ten years to sculpt,” Samir Jaura, fitness trainer to various stars including the likes of Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Manoj Vajpayee, Ekta Kapoor and Ramgopal Verma had once told me.
Once again, the blame is put on the blind aping of Western trends. “Five-six years ago, nobody would even talk about using dietary supplements like protein powders for one’s body. Now everybody is talking about doing steroid cycles. You start with doing one, but once the ‘amazing’ results start coming in, you just want to do it better and better, eventually getting into an addiction,” he had revealed.
However, it cannot be denied that many overenthusiastic trainers, who just to impress their clients often recommend them to those steroid short cuts. Cases, abound where trainers themselves have put their clients on a crash steroid diet for those quick fix artificial means to look good.
Moreover, many of the users pick up these steroids on hearsay and friendly recommendations, without knowing their proper use. According to my personal gym instructor, “You have to cycle, taper and pyramid your steroids to avoid the negative side effects. Frequent use of steroids raise one’s testosterone levels to those unnatural highs, from where returning to the normal levels takes time. This affects one’s sexual prowess too”.
A fast turned slim-to-fit wannabe model in my Mumbai gym, under conditions of anonymity has admitted that though he is aware that steroids need to be taken with a doctor’s prescription or on a registered trainer’s recommendation, he along with some of his other gym mates often source them from “friendly chemist shops and the grey market, apart from friends coming from the West for that occasional quick booster.”
And it’s not just star struck fans blindly aping their idols’ sculpted bodies, that resort to these desperate measures. Steroid use is quite a rage amongst many former big male models, desperately trying to hold on against onslaught of the new brigade. “There is something called muscle maturity, which with the right training appreciates your over-all look with every passing year. However, anyone trying for a quick fix with steroids without the requisite muscle maturity might end up in seriously messing up his system,” warns sports medicine specialist Rishi Sherekar.
So, is there any respite to this mad rush?
Well, globally the bulky, body builder look is out. Even in Hollywood the all brawn Arnie look has given way to the lean, fit ‘Justin Bieber’ like look, which can be achieved through good training, nutrition and dietary supplements. And you don’t have to do steroids for that.

STEROIDS IN CIRCUIT
Winstrol – One of the most preferred anabolic steroids for female athletes, it helps put the body in shape without affecting the female sex hormones
Clenbuterol – A drug given to severe asthmatics, it enhances fat loss, cuts extra flab, and brings about that overall lean look
Deca durabolin – One of the widely used anabolic in Asian countries, it gives that puffed-up look, lubricates the joints, and bulging biceps in a single exercise ridden cycle.
Anadrol 50 – Builds muscle mass and size, giving you those bulging biceps and chest, when coupled with strong workouts. A good drug for temporary use.
Anavar – Promotes lean muscle mass, however beware of the counterfeit Anavars circulating in the market, they could mess up your liver and get you to the hospital
